Meeting on Climate Change Impacts on European Agriculture (3-4 December 2008)

from: 03/12/2008 9:00 am
to: 04/12/2008 4:00 pm
where: JRC Centre Ispra, Italy (building 58C, amphitheatre)

The meeting will serve as a platform allowing informal and lively exchange of experiences between the participants, to share questions, opinions, as well as to explore options for a shared action to be granted also within the 7th Framework Research Programme of the European Commission.

The two days will be structured along the following lines: Scaling issues in crop simulations for climate change: from GCM grid to field level; from field to regions; from biophysics to economics.

Through presentations and (primarily) discussion sessions, the workshop will address key issues and challenges for the future of climate change impact assessment for agriculture, focusing on:

  • Metrics for climate change and climate change impact assessment
  • Downscaling GCM simulations for use with crop models
  • Tools and examples of simulation of biophysical system in agriculture production
  • Bio-economic models application to climate change
