Workshop- FAS in the EU: proposals for improvement

The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland with the technical support of the MARS Unit of the JRC.

It was held in Warsaw, Poland at Sofitel Victoria Hotel, Królewska 11 str. (town centre)

From 9:00 Tuesday, 8 February to 15:00 Wednesday, 9 February 2011

The aim of this workshop was to have open and constructive exchanges about the practical implementation of the Farm Advisory System in the Member States and its future development. A particular focus was given on the discussion and on the collection of feedbacks about the “Report from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council”, published last November.

The second day a technical visit was organised. Participants was divided in two groups visiting:

- one the Advisory Agricultural Centre (CDR) branch in Radom. Participants in this visit had the opportunity to learn about the activities of the centre for improving the skills of the agricultural advisors and about the functioning of the ecological farm run by CDR in the nearby village Chwalowice;

- the other The Mazovian Advisory Agricultural Centre (ODR), branch in Płońsk. In this visit participants had the opportunity to learn about practical aspects of MODR activities including different methods of advising and rural areas development. A farm visit was organised to demonstrate the results of individual advice within the FAS.
