Assessments
October 2021

Harvesting of the 2021 main sorghum and millet season is nearing completion and yield prospects are average according to remote sensing indices, despite mixed weather conditions throughout the season.

However, soil moisture deficits and early dryness led to below-average vegetation conditions in zones of the Sudanese side (e.g., Logone Occidental). Furthermore, the protracted conflict continues to negatively constrain agro-pastoral activities in the Lake Chad basin.
